IGBC Ahmedabad chapter organized a conference on Green Buildtech on 14 July 2023 at Ahmedabad, with a focus on Green Buildings, Advancing Net Zero, and Emerging Green Technologies for Sustainable Future.

The event was headed by eminent IGBC patrons Mr. Jayesh Hariyani, Chairman, IGBC Ahmedabad Chapter & Sr Principal, CMD, INI Design Studio; Mr. Sameer Sinha, Immediate Past Chairman, IGBC Ahmedabad Chapter & Managing Director, Savvy Group; Mr Taral Shah, Co-Chair, IGBC Ahmedabad Chapter & Managing Director, Shivalik Group and Mr Tejas Joshi, President, CREDAI Ahmedabad, Managing Director, Vivan Infrastructure Pvt Ltd.

Mr. M. Thennarasan, IAS, Municipal Commissioner, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation was the Chief Guest and delivered the Keynote Address in which he said that sustainable buildings, products, and technologies are the way to the future and urged all the stakeholders of the construction industry to inculcate resource conservation, material circularity and mitigating carbon emissions into their operations. Post his address, Mr. Thennarasan felicitated recently IGBC Certified Green Building Projects in Ahmedabad.

This inaugural session was followed by a technical session and a panel discussion on Transitioning Buildings & Built Environments toward Net Zero.

The technical session focused on Green Buildings & Advancing Net Zero, including Case Studies and Emerging Green Technologies and their impact on Construction and Infrastructure Development. Mr Venugopal. R, Manager – Design, Saint-Gobain India Private Limited - Glass Business spoke on the Role of Glass in Net Zero Buildings, and Mr. Nitin Gupta, DGM, Product Development, Nuvoco Vistas Corp. Ltd. explained their Sustainable Concrete for Future Generations which gave the audience great insights on low carbon materials.

The Panel Discussion had guests Mr. Aditya Handa, MD, and CEO, Abellon Clean Energy Ltd.; Mr. Sharvil Shridhar, Managing Director, A.Shridhar Group; Mr. Deep Vadodaria, Chief Executive Officer, Nila Spaces Limited; Ar Surya Kakani, Principal Architect, Kakani Associate and Mr. Shwetal Shah, Climate Change & Sustainability Specialist discuss on length on how innovative approaches, best practices, and strategies for reducing energy consumption, minimizing waste, and implementing sustainable materials in buildings and infrastructure.
