Sustainable Design for Premium Public Amenity in Remote Suburbs
Dahegam Town Hall, conceived by the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA), with an aim to serve the outlying areas of Ahmedabad, is designed to host a spectrum of communal activities – from social gatherings, performances, and training sessions to grand banquets. The distinct public character of the design ethos revolves around not only serving the community's needs but also aligning with principles of sustainability and embracing climate-responsiveness. The result is an energy-efficient design that significantly minimizes operational costs and energy dependencies.

Functional Harmony in Architectural Form
A wide entrance plaza, at the ground level ushers guests into the multipurpose banquet/conference area. This area, complete with a dry kitchen, can be divided into two spaces and is designed to accommodate up to 500 individuals. The auditorium on the first-floor seats 600+ attendees, with VIP lounges for distinguished guests and green rooms for the performers. A parametric interior design enhances the auditorium's acoustics and lighting ensuring a superior auditory experience. A 100-seat reading area and library on the second-floor nurtures intellectual engagement within society.
The main usable spaces have been insulated from harsh hot climate through the concept of arranging the peripheral spaces like the arrival and pre-function lobbies, vertical circulation core, toilets, as well as back of the house service spaces, which act as a buffer, reducing the air-conditioning load. The building's front is graced with a verdant lawn, seamlessly integrated into the design, which guides the driveway and arrival plaza with an organic flow. The ramp at the rear leads to the basement, offering ample parking for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers. The exterior and interior materials seamlessly merge, creating a cohesive design narrative. Architectural exposed concrete harmonizes with the ethereal Jodhpur pink sandstone, radiating a blend of modernity and timeless elegance
Harmonizing Aesthetics and crafting Monumental Spaces with Ingenuity
Dahegam Town Hall epitomizes intelligent space utilization. It boasts a generous reception cum prefunction lobby, reached through a monumental flight of stairs stretching along the building's front, imbibing an air of grandeur. The upper floor houses a spacious pre-function lobby adorned with a snacks counter and a comfortable waiting lounge. Architectural fins adorning the entire front façade of the pre-function lobby's glazing, impart a stateliness, befitting a public edifice. The commitment to sustainability, economy, and iconic design is palpable, fostering a legacy that enriches the community and redefines public spaces.
